Reversing employee turnover of SUMMIT BIOTECH in Datathon competition

| Anh Nguyen

My team worked together on a imaginary situation where we were part of the Data Analytics team at Summit Biotech. Our tasks were:

  1. Investigate the employee dataset to better understand the subset who affects the overall turnover.

  2. Our output was a set of realistic, data-driven recommendations on how the company can best address the needs of the identified subset and decrease the turnover rate in the foreseeable future.

Over the 1-day participating in this bootcamp, I have learned a lot about:

  1. The importance of teamwork: each member focused on their core strength and contributed to the team. I spent most of the time exploring the data and build logistic regression model in R. Jessie focused on the the resolution because she has a background in Marketing. Christopher and William focused on designing the slides and prepared the outline for our presentation.

  2. Everything starts from the basic. I realized other group useing Excel to solve their problem, they didn't use machine learning model like my team but they have a clear outline and a concise, suitable resolutions for the math so they achieved higher place than mine. In a nutshell, understand the question clearly helps you have a detailed plan to get to the final destination.
